About Jonathan
Jonathan Sutton is a drummer/percussionist in Hastings, East Sussex.
Background:
From the early years of secondary school he developed a real interest in the drums – although his interest in music extended back long before then.
Predominantly self-taught – within a short space of time he became very skilled at playing – which grew primarily through playing in Church; alongside a keen interest in rock music. Over the years he’s gained a good experience playing in both a rock and a Christian Worship context. Musically speaking he has a rock background; but now enjoys playing a whole range of styles. He has a broad musical taste including Rock, Funk, Jazz, Classical and Latin – and draws influences from everywhere.
Playing and recording:
He has played at various events and venues, especially during his days drumming in ‘The Monday Band’ – a rock band who produced the album “Life is a Journey” (2005).
Most recently he was involved in the event and subsequent album - 'This is the Hope' (2008) - for which he was the drummer and co-organiser/co-producer.
Jonathan still plays as and when required at events.
Current activity:
He concentrates primarily on Teaching and has a real heart for teaching children and teenagers.
As well as teaching privately he also teaches a number of children in Primary School.
He also runs Drum & Percussion Workshops and has recently become a Drumsense Tutor.
He has a real love for drumming and a passion to teach.
